The Audit Process

Session Description: The FTA Drug and Alcohol Audit process is explained in
detail by a senior FTA auditor. Learn what the inspections entail, who gets
selected, and how to prepare for them. The session will provide an in-depth look
into auditing from the perspective of FTA, and will help attendees to better
prepare for audits, understand their rights before, during, and after, and avoid
common mistakes made by transit systems in the past. The presentation will also
give examples of common misconceptions concerning audit preparation.

Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion training per 49 CFR Part 655.14 (b)(2). Those
requirements include training on the physical, behavioral, and performance
indicators of probable drug use, and the physical, behavioral, performance, and
speech indicators of probable alcohol misuse. Certificates of Completion will be
provided upon session completion and will be mailed to participants.

A Regulatory Comparison: FTA vs. FMCSA

commonalities - and differences - in the FMCSA and FTA testing regulations. Jim
Keenan is the Program Manager for FMCSA's drug and alcohol testing program, and

What Happens at the Lab

Services (DHHS-) certified lab procedures to use once the lab receives a DOT
specimen. This session will discuss validity testing, specific drug cutoffs, and
fascinating positive drug test statistics regarding federally mandated employees

testing and a matrix comparison between hair, oral fluid, and urine testing.
